Albert de Marco
Light Shade & Shadow
In 1999 Albert de Marco had a change in his photographic life, this was the year he switched o digital but simultaneously changed his lighting techniques and the subject, but keeping the same style.
This seminar will open in some interesting branches not only in all the technicalities but also on how the viewer gets attracted to an image and how the world portrays photography and photographers.
The seminar is split into three sections:
Biography
Albert
de Marco was born in Floriana Malta on the 8th September 1961. He grew up in an
Industrial and Automobile engineering environment with his Father Henry, but his
passion was contemporary dance, painting and later photography. However the
industrial and mechanical background contributed greatly for his development in
photography
In 1988, Albert decided to take up photography more seriously and a couple of years later he met Mr. Colin Carron the editor of PIC, a British based photography magazine. Mr Carron urged him to go to England and gave him some contacts. In February 1994 Albert left to the Royal Photographic Society and from there the chain of successful stories began. Malta’s Albert de Marco (as he became know in England) committed himself to the art of photography and frequently went to England where he refined his skills with some of the world's most famous photographers.
In just over 4 years,
Albert grew up from a keen photographer to achieving the International Master
Photographer of the Year Gold Award in 1998. Along the way he won numerous
honors on the international scene with his unique sense of style, imagination
and creativity. David Kilpatrick once wrote, “………Like all genuinely
original work of art, de Marco’s photography is hard to judge objectively
because it does not fit into a category …………” The Malta Independent
described him as “ A master at his craft”…………….. in another
article in the Image Maker he was referre
d
to as ‘ the weird and wonderful’ by Martin Graham-Dunn and recently Ramon
Depares of the Sunday Circle described him as having ‘ A world of his own’
Albert’s work is a barrier between Pictorial, Illustrative and Abstract. Emotion, Imagination and skill come together to record images that will take you in another world……….”Photography is a celebration of light and I want to party in it every day” he says. “……..my inspiration comes from the darkness in my soul, the colors from my spirit and imagination does the rest………..” he concludes
Despite this successful story he remained the humble, nice, energetic guy from the village of Luqa on the Mediterranean island of Malta. The only male amongst 4 sisters, Albert, is the guy that completes the gang. Workmates say “the day starts when Albert comes into the office’
Albert is a frequent speaker and judge of and about photography, and still working on a new project that will mesmerize his viewer every time.
