| Trevor & Faye Yerbury
THE EYES OF A CHILD |
||||||
The seminar will explore the much overlooked opportunity of location/environmental portraiture. We will discuss the current obsession with ‘white’ backgrounds and how photographers have adopted the ‘sheep’ approach and have been quick to jump on the bandwagon. Have we now seen enough of the white phenomenon and the jumping child that has been cross processed to hell and back? Is this really what clients want or is it simply a fad/fashion that will wither and die? Trevor and Faye Yerbury have, over the past couple of years, developed a lucrative market in environmental portraits of children and have been quietly rethinking their approach and alternative to the white brigade. In doing so they have discovered the pleasure in working on location, mostly at clients homes, and have produced images that have delighted their clients which has been reflected in quality orders with no hard selling, free offers, or discounted prints. The Yerbury have an honest and natural approach to photographing children capturing the essence and character of their sitters. During the courser of the seminar the Yerburys will discuss how they have developed this part of their business and the creative and financial advantages they believe this market offers.
Trevor first started working for the family business in 1968 working alongside his father gaining knowledge and experience in social photography. After his fathers passing in 1979 Trevor took over the running of the studio with the help of his wife Faye. In 1985 Trevor and Faye started to explore and concentrate their business on 'classic nudes'. This was supported by regular fashion shots and commercial shoots for a variety of clients.
