Photoshop Restoration and Retouching
This book by Katrin Eismann is probably the best that can be purchased for the social photographer; Eismann is a professional retoucher and really understands the process. Even though some aspects of the advice have been superseded by new features of Photoshop 7 (such as the Healing Brush) it is still essential reading for those who need to retouch their images, especially of people. Significantly it has been selling well at SWPP seminars. The images used in the book are available on Eismann's web site so you can work all the examples. If you have some book tokens left over from the holiday this would be a good place to use them!
