So then - "Lifestyle" - what's all that about then? Something new? I am delighted to tell you that as far back as 1989 I would shoot the formals on a Hassie, while my assistant ran round with a Nikon shooting candids. At a recent very glitzy event, SWPP & BPPA Portrait Photographer of the Year, Maz Mashru was awarded his prize by FujiFilm’s Business Group Manager, Jon Cohen and SWPP & BPPA CEO Phil Jones. The event was held in the member’s lounge of the Houses of Parliament and was hosted by Leicester MP, the Rt. Hon. Keith Vaz, with the Rt. Hon. Margaret Beckett, MP as the guest of honour. It was a fitting tribute for Maz’s achievement, after heading up an entry of more than 3,000 images.

Maz is well know in political circles having already photographed numerous dignitaries and politicians including Jack Straw, former Madam Speaker, Betty Boothroyd, Robin Cook, Lord Sainsbury, Margaret Beckett, Lord Faulkner, Sir Trevor McDonald, The Bishop of Leicester, Princess Diana, John Major, Kenneth Clarke, Michael Heseltine, former Prime Minister Tony Blair and Prime Minister, Gordon Brown.
