You can get a free on at http://extremetracking.com/ but that is not private, where as http://www.sitemeter.com/ is also free and you can password protect the statistics

I use http://www.onestat.com/ it's not free but it does offer a very in depth view of our site visitors

I may be a bit thick when it come to web design but I have signed up with sitemeter what do I do now? any help would be appreciated.

Log on to your sitemeter using your username and password, then click 'Manager' then on the left hand side click 'HTML Code' and a list of options will apear. I advise clicking on'Using a text editor (like NotePad)' link and copy the 'Site Meter JavaScript HTML' to your website.

If you have anymore problems, please email me by clicking on my name.

P.S you can also change the logo by clicking 'Meter Style'

my site is hosted by the imagefile and Ihave been requesting this functionality from them for some time. Is it possible to add sitemeter to one of their hosted sites? and if so how?

Try StratCounter - available at http://www.stratcounter.com, a free invisible web tracker, real time detailed web stats and configurable hit counter. Been using it for a few weeks and the information available is very good - and its free!

I use http://www.names.co.uk to host my website and they provide a very indepth stat's page which is archived monthly for referance.

For a free service register for a free account with google and they supply googleanalytic. This is one of the best systems I have seen with geo overlay to see where your hits are coming from I was surprised to see hits from Australia, Russia and a 10th of my hits from america. Very good system
