Creative Play - Have you forgotten the joy of playing? It is just not fun! - Masterclass
Creativity is all essential in your personal, photographic and business
development and growth.
“Creative play” is a way of developing your skills and your ability to
think creative thoughts, to get creative ideas. It is exercise for the
creative mind. And it is an attitude.
Lot’s will tell you, that you have to have a “talent” to be a creative
photographer – I do not disagree with this – but using your talent to
its very best takes training and exercise.
Too many photographers – like I did earlier – fall asleep doing business
and photographs the way they used to. It worked before so – so it will
work again and again forever seems to be the thought. All too often this
is the case. Personally I almost went bankrupt before I realised I was
sound asleep.
“I am too busy to play!” “A serious photographer does not play!” “I am
an adult!” - Might be right – but without creativity end development,
you will all too soon get the time.
“I have my style – and that is what the clients want!” Probably also
right at the moment – but is that also what they want next year? Haven’t
you seen (other) photographers shop-windows and/or web-sites, where you
think – “What did they, do while time passed by?”
Creative is the basis of it all in our doing. A lot of the other
speakers in the convention will talk about how to develop business
and/or style – and they will do this very well. They will be creative
people always on the look out to develop them self, their personal style
and their business. They will all have a playful attitude. And you will
be very vice to listen to a lot of them.
I will try a different angle – that is how to (start) play(ing) trough
self-assignments and exercises. Try to held you enhance your creativity
in the direction you feel is should go.
I will try to archive this by showing and discussing some of my own
play-projects, which also have a serious angle
We will talk about and look at pin-hole photography, nature projects,
light and shade and others types of projects where you can challenge
your shelf. A really good and “hard” project will take some effort to
complete.
We will talk about getting inspiration from others. That is using it, to
develop your personal style and/or business – not do what they did.
The SWPP 2008 Convention was an outstanding success,
we have 178 days to get ready for the 2009 convention - which starts on January 14, 2009
