swpp member Mark SeymourMark Seymour

Mark has always been intrigued and fascinated by the world of photography. His earliest memories include taking his first picture at just four years old with a Box Brownie, and owning his first real camera at the age of eight.

“I will always be taking pictures regardless of the event as this is my true passion, I simply love capturing definitive moments ”. Mark Seymour

His major influences are the informal styles of Elliot Erwitt, Willy Ronis and the legendary Cartier Bresson. Bresson was a master of capturing what he termed the "decisive moment”, which has formed the fundamental approach to how Mark works and has helped him to create his own acclaimed style that is evident in his work today.

"It's exciting for me to capture the feelings and emotions of a scene as it happens, giving an everlasting record of a treasured moment" Mark Seymour

A strong desire to deliver the perfect balance between traditional techniques and modern vision led to the creation of Mark Seymour Photography in 1992 and has earned him his reputation of being one of the best Wedding Photographers in the country. His goal for his business was simple – to provide clients with a set of memories that give a true reflection of their day. This was a big step away from the traditional and predictable, staged, photographer-led interpretation of the event popular at the time.

After 18 years as a professional photographer Mark’s current approach is predominantly photojournalistic yet still infused with an understanding that the more formal, traditional images can be required. This means that he works to capture the true essence of the day, the intimate unseen moments and memories of the occasion as they naturally unfold, in a discreet and unobtrusive way.

“As I continue to evolve, so too does my work, resulting in better images that are more artistic, more exciting and more alive. I am as passionate, enthusiastic and excited to be attending my next wedding as I was when I attended my first”. Mark Seymour

Having won some of the most sought after awards in his field he is currently the Mario Acerboni International Wedding Photographer of the Year and is delighted to be recommended by some of the UK’s most prestigious venues including, Claridges, Park Lane Hotel, Cliveden House and The Hemple.

Mark prides himself on delivering fabulous and unique images, illustrating visual stories that capture moment after moment.

Photo Quote: As I became aware that all things have unique spatial and temporal qualities which visually define and relate them, I began to perceive the things I was photographing not as objects but as events. Working to develop my skills of perceiving and symbolizing these event qualities, I discovered the principle of opposites. When, for example, I photographed the smooth, luminous body of a woman behind a dirty cobwebbed window, I found that the qualities of each event were enhanced and the universal forces which they manifested were more powerfully evoked. - Wynn Bullock
