I will never forget the very first photographs I took back in the 1960s when my father who was a very keen amateur photographer introduced me to what was even then an ageing box brownie camera. The fascination of watching the image appear in the red glow of our blacked out kitchen as the developer did its work will remain with me always. Photography since then has come on leaps and bounds and I have had a life long love affair with the whole process - moving through from 35mm format to large format photography and now the digital age. Long gone are the late nights developing films and prints in the cupboard under the stairs we now do everything using the screen and keyboard. The amazing thing about the current status of photography is that digital photography has come of age and offers the same degree of quality that the old masters could create with the most sophisticated large format cameras. Yet the processes are not that dissimilar – we still produce an image that would have been called a ‘negative’ and then spend as many hours manipulating the image to get the desired effect. We just do it in pixels now not gallons of developer !.In the latter part of 2006 I decided to turn my life-long passion into a business and open a Studio supported by my wife Janet . So we are one of the new businesses in Higham Ferrers and hope to provide a professional photography service to the local community - and beyond.
