Her studio on River Road is open by appointment from Tuesday to Sunday. Karen's grand opening special offers clients discounts of up to 75% off complete portrait orders as well as a chance to win several prizes from the studio and other local businesses for the first three weeks in April, leading up to the grand opening gala evening May 5th. Karen's lyrical and romantic style of portraiture features her clients in a completely unique way. Her portrait art is completely different from standard inexpensive photography studios like Wal-Mart or Sears. Karen's clients say they love how they are never rushed or treated like a number. They enjoy feeling pampered in their session, which ranges from 45 minutes to 3 hours, depending on the client's needs. The best thing they say they feel though, is that all the portraits are unique – custom designed for each client to show their individual personality and essence. Karen Learmonth specializes in fine art portraits of children, families, mothers-to-be and romantic glamour and boudoir portraiture. Using specialized painting techniques in many of her works; Karen creates lasting works of art that capture the joyful spirit and energy of her subjects. Her artistic creations are done on watercolor, canvas and metallic prints as well as traditional paper. Each piece is handcrafted in the studio, using new specialized techniques unique to her studio. Ms. Learmonth is an nationally known photographer whose works have been featured in galleries across Canada. She is a board member of the Professional Photographers of BC, and is an active member of the Professional Photographers of Canada, as well as a member of SWPP and BPPA (European Professional Photographers Associations). Karen also uses her photographic talents to benefit various service and charity organizations. Her latest projects include photographing WW2 veterans in the Lower Mainland (at no cost to the veterans), and she is currently initiating the first "Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep" project for parents and photographers in the Lower Mainland.
