Type business: Full Time Professional Photographer My photographic style: I would not say I work to one particular style, the job and the subject can and often have a bearing on the final "style" of a shoot. My greatest strengths: Patience and Determination. I have been in photography: A long time 24 years and counting and I'm still counting.... How I got started in photography: To long a story and to long ago. Worked on a couple of local rags then a short spell with The Daily Mail in Glasgow then the Express & Star then The Sun Then The Daily Record & Sunday Mail for 19 years and the last 5 years back at The Sun. With some wedding and portrait work on the private side of my business. My photographic skills: The ability to operate a camera rather well or I wouldn’t be here. Ability to adapt quickly to situations around me. My personality: Sometimes I've got a good personality most of the time I've got a great personality. It's just my way. Without a personality go get a job in a bank. Geographic areas I cover: Scotland/ UK / Europe in fact the world is a rather small place these days and if someone in deepest darkest Peru commissioned me to go to China and photograph a Great Wall then so be it. I have covered assignments throughout the UK, France, Italy, Spain and the USofA so far. Venues I frequently attend: Where would one start? A question with a question but an impossible one to answer. I found inspiration from: Life inspires me. Every day is different, everybody is different. Live it, Love it, Enjoy it. I have had the privilege to work with some of the best photographers in the country throughout my career...they know who they are. Success in photography: Countless Press Awards going back through the ages. And more recently a few B, S and a G with the SWPP monthly competition. All good fun really. Photographic training: University of life and 20+ years in frontline journalism. If that’s not a education then I don’t know what is. My interests outside photography: Wide open spaces with my 4 legged friend the ankle biters and her indoors. Major events: Well, the birth of my 3 children. And a few major news jobs over the years. Testimonials: I often receive lovely thank you cards and notes from clients I don’t go shouting this from the rooftops. I like to keep private things private. It's my way. Why I like the SWPP: I think as an organisation with an open accessible membership where fellow photographers can communicate with each other on a variety of topics is good for everyone.
