I have been taking photos since 1966. My parents bought me a camera for my 16th birthday. I soon realised how limited and restrictive an Instamatic 126 was. Try photographing The Red Arrows display with one!

A while later I got a Canon 35mm SLR. Then I swapped that SLR for another kind of SLR by enlisting in the Royal Air Force.

On becoming a civilian again, I needed a new Canon. I was asked by my friend who incidentally was a disc jockey in a top Leeds night club. He said do you know anyone with a camera. I need some promotional photos. “I have one”, I said and took them. He liked them so much, he showed them to his friends, who were in the same business. Who then asked me to? They in turn showed their friends, and so on.

A girl friend of one of the Disco manager’ asked me to take a portfolio for her. She showed her friends… and so on. I never paid for an advert. I never paid to get in any disco or nightclub. That Canon A1 camera got me in places and situations I wouldn’t thought possible.

When it wore out, I went Digital. Canon, of course. After what it’s done for me in 40 years.

I have been a member of The Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers, British Professional Photographers Association, Professional Photographers of Great Britain, and presently a member of The Bureau of Freelance Photographers The Royal Photographic Society, SWPP & BPPA, One Model Place,Net-Model.Go to www.aoc9.comfor links to model sites.

I also started off using Amiga 1200 & a Genlock to link up to a video camera+recorder to overlay graphics, titles and special effects onto video with stereo sound or any sound effects or soundtrack & print the video cover. Later I assembled a computer using a ASUS A7V8X motherboard, added a 500Gb Hard drive,3Gb ram, a D.V.D. Writer, Print DVD covers. Achieved Advanced Diploma in Computer Applications, Certificate in Computer Applications- Desktop Publishing at Leeds College of Technology. Open University. Digital Photography at New York Institute of Photography
