Full Time Professional Photographer

My photographic style: I try to use of methods of photography, as I personally feel that each style has its own hidden jewel. The methods I use when photographing a wedding can be both classical and contempory in style. I utlise each moment whether this be formal or reportage.

My greatest strengths: I would say my best strengths are my people skills, putting my clients at ease. I feel this enables me to get the best on the day, and makes taking group shots easier as people trust my skill and are willing to work with me and listen to me.

I have been in photography: I have been working as a qualified photographer since the summer of 2011. But I started working as a assistant photographer, April 2010. I am also a trained artist and I feel this put me in good stead for photography.

How I got started in photography: I have always enjoyed photography, but I used it more as a base for my art. It was in 2009 that I decided that I wanted to make a full time career from photography and decided to undertake a BTEC Photography (art& Design) level 3. This was daunting as I was the only mature student amongst 16-19 year olds. Before I had completed my first year I had managed to have one of my pieces given as a gift to the chairman of Birmingham airport, I had single handedly designed a brochure for our course and won an award for the journey to success within my college.

My photographic skills: I have advanced skills with photoshop which I dont heavily use within my photography unless they are composite images. My general photography is being able to gauge situations and to listen, I find that this in turn helps me capture moments otherwise would have been missed. Listening for me is the key, as you find you feel moments about to happen. I use these moments in creating my story books.

My personality: I hate having to describe myself, but if I have to I would say that I have a good sense of humour, witty.. smile alot and I make people laugh. I'm fun and energetic, which I think comes from the fact I truly love what I do, so I just cant help it. I'm talkative and creative.

Geographic areas I cover: I am happy to cover many areas, I tend to stick local (west midlands) only because this is what I have been asked. But truthfully I'm happy to travel, gives me a chance to have a broader area of work and new locations.

Venues I frequently attend: Traditional venues with history, are what I like as they have interesting backgrounds that I can use.

I found inspiration from: I never stop reading or searching for new styles, but what really inspires me is light. whether its natural light, or even flash, or combined it is the art of how light is used and controlled that inspires me to create new images. I love the science and timing of it.

Success in photography.: With my first course I achieved a perfect score of having all my assignments marked at distinction level. What was more of a success was that my work despite being a BTEC was considered to be at a degree level. I would love to undertake a degree. But at the moment I would rather gain experience in my industry. and gain qualifications such as with the SWPP.

Photographic training: I have been trained on the job, so to speak; allowing me to have hands on experience. Having first hand experience has allowed be to have a much more in-depth training that worked well along side the qualification I therefore gained later on. Despite having finished and qualifying, I c an honestly say that I will always be learning, adapting and evolving my style. As I feel this is the best way to survive and stay fresh in such a skilful craft.

My interests outside photography: I love all creative things, whether this be traditional crafts or art. I am a traditionally trained graphical and illustrative artist. I have loved art since I was able to love a pencil and when I knew what you could accomplish with it. I am now training my self within the realms of digital art in the hopes of breaching the illustrative world again.

Major events: After losing my mom to cancer back in 2003, I have pushed to find myself and to find something that could ground me back to life. When you suffer such extremes of loss you lose parts of yourself that you didn't know were so needed. My art at the time was something my mom admired but after her death I found it hard to paint, or even want to. It was always a reminder that she wasn't there to talk to about my ideas. I know she was proud but the link between the two was too strong. Finding photography and that I had a talent for it, was something that was mine and was no longer a reminder. By achieving all I have as well as the recognition from other photographers along my journey; has helped centre me. Making me feel that life can continue, I have found a inner confidence that I didn't have, and whats the greatest achievemnt for me is that my daughter has found the same love. And I hope to train her so we can work as a team as she grows up.

Testimonials: I have had a wonderful testimonial :- quote from facebook page

"u made me go full , thy r beautiful, an really happy we had u as our photographer ur a star xxx : )"

Why I like the SWPP: I chose SWPP because of the standard of work that I have witnessed and that it specializes in my area of photography. Plus I feel the qualifications I can gain from them will of be of great use to myself and future business
