Ian Julian has an Exhibition here. Ian Julian Bournemouth Photographer - providing photographic services in Bournemouth and Dorset. Will do further afield, or abroad, but prefer to work locally, and prices will reflect this. Full Time professional photographer specialising on weddings, travel home or abroad, wildlife and portraiture. My photographic style is 100% traditional. However, I also use photo digital advances to illustrate the beauty and the occasion when it calls for it. Always do a slideshow to music, and video extracts. I’m told that I have always had an ability to relax people, getting everyone to smile, to laugh and to trust me, which I hope is always reflected in the photographs. I am also fully trained at editing, doing slideshows, digital photobooks and anything that is required. I also love wildlife and travel photography as well as my favourite topic, which is now portraiture photography. I have been in photography throughout my life. It was friends and relatives who finally persuaded me to turn professional. I find inspiration from great black and white photography. I love photographs that manage to capture the personality. I am a photographer because I instantly see what makes a good picture. I wished to be able to draw and paint to illustrate this, but was totally useless. Digital photography has granted me this ability. I was repeatedly asked by friends to do their weddings, but always refused. Finally I relented, and enjoyed it so much, and it went so well, that many others asked me to do their weddings, so my main work comes by word of mouth. I have loved doing weddings ever since. However, I strictly limit the number of weddings that I conduct each year, so it does not just become another job of work. I have a laid-back style, do not order people about, but 'request' or advise. Weddings should be a fun day, uplifting, but dove-tailing with feelings of awe. I am also a writer and editor, and also write comedy, which I use, although sparingly, at my weddings and my post-production work. I have certificates both from Nikon, and for 'Advanced Photoshop'. I entered a photographic competition once whilst working for the DSS. I came third, but then discovered that this was actually the national competition for the entire Civil Service. The picture was called 'Just 3 Happy Kids'. I have not entered any competitions since leaving the Civil Service 10 years ago. ---------------------------------------------- 'The pictures that you have used from our wedding are superb and we feel really honoured that you have included them in your web site'. Having been a Fraud Investigator for 15 years, I find this more arresting as a profession! I can honestly say, I hope without temerity and an excess of self-belief, that I have yet to do a wedding that has disappointed.
