In wedding photography I create images that show great fun, laughter as well as beauty and romance in the telling of a couple's unique wedding day story. I have been in photography: I studied and qualified from Blackpool College of Photography in 1982. How I got started in photography: At a Saturday Morning class in Lancaster before progressing to take an O Level before moving on though to a 3year PQE course at Blackpool. My earliest memory was taking pictures of the details in the sand on the beach and sunsets near my home in Morecambe, Lancashire. My first proper camera was a Chinese made Seagull 35mm SLR which was bought by my parents for my 18th Birthday My photographic skills: Through 8 years spent working in the cruise ship industry in the Caribbean personally taking up to 3,500 photographs of guests a week - I am extremely good with people - particularly managing large numbers of them which helps me enormously in getting the most of my wedding couples and guests My personality: Easy going, relaxed but with a very strong attention to detail Geographic areas I cover: Greater London, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire and Surrey - but basically anywhere that clients commission me, require. I have worked overseas in a wide range of countries from Europe, Russia, Scandinavia, North and Central America to Southern Africa. Venues I frequently attend: Any venue that is visually stimulating. I found inspiration from: Our beautiful world; Ansel Adams, great Painters like Monet and Magritte and all things that are individual and visually stimulating; beautiful buildings/architecture Success in photography: Qualified at Blackpool & Fylde College, Lancashire in 1982 and was awarded a Professional Qualifying Examination with Credit backed by the British Institute of Professional Photography. I was later awards my Associateship with the BIPP. When a 2nd year photography student I won 2nd place in the Association of Fashion Editorial and Advertising Photographers Student Competition for advertising photography 1981; 3 firsts and 3 2nds in the BIPP Home Counties Regional Competition and Bronze in the BIPP National Print Competition 1991 for Architectural Photography Photographic training: Blackpool College of Education : PQE Photography 1978-1982 My interests outside photography: Scuba Diving; Travel; Horse-riding; Cinema; Theatre; Reading; hiking; Art. Major events: I spent 10 years working and travelling on cruise ships; I lived and worked in Cape Town South Africa for 4 years. I also spent a short time working as an on-board Art Auctioneer selling original fine art.
