Sean Mantey photographer based in Chorley Lancashire Type business: Full Time Professional Photographer My photographic style: Bold and contemporary, my style is relatively unique within social photography. My greatest strengths: I have a very strong aesthetic sense and a natural eye for composition. I have been in photography: I've been totally and utterly consumed by photography for the last 4 years. How I got started in photography: Sidelined by a martial arts injury, I decided to take up photography in bid to stay close to the competitive side of the sport by working as a photojournalist. My photographic skills: Technically, I am a master of all my equipment and am an expert in the digital "darkroom". However, more than anything else, I rely on my ability to work with people to help them relax and get the very best out of them. My personality: I'm very laid back and get along well with everyone. Geographic areas I cover: Whilst I'm based out of Lancashire (Chorley), I love to travel and am happy to take on assignments throughout the UK and overseas. I found inspiration from: I love the arts and feed on a wide range of influences in music, film, painting and sculpture. I don't tend to follow the work of other social photographers but I am naturally drawn to the worlds of editorial / advertorial and fine art photography. Success in photography: I have entered and won one judged photography competition. Whilst I'm sure some of my work would place well in competition I just don't feel the need, or have the ambition, to enter more. However, if I spot one that has an interesting theme, open to artistic interpretation, I may change my mind. Photographic training: I have trained with some of the top professionals in social photography and have spent the last 4 years working obsessively to master my craft. I've been awarded the Licentiate distinction by the SWPP and will be applying for the Associate distinction very soon. My interests outside photography: Outside of photography, I love the outdoors and spend most of my spare time with my Labradors in beautiful locations throughout the North of England. Why I like the SWPP: I love the sense of community and inclusion within the SWPP. Future plans: To establish myself as leading social photographer in the UK and to open a daylight studio / gallery in a converted mill somewhere in the North of England.
