I'm constantly looking and learning new skills My greatest strengths: I am my worst critic and that makes strive to be better I have been in photography: That's a difficult one.... I have been an enthusiast all my life but other work commitments stop me from pursuing I have had my studio for about 2 yrs now How I got started in photography: I bought my first Canon 1ds 6 yrs ago and learned how to use it photographing my daughter showjumping... I always used the manual settings ( I didn't read the manual and had no idea about AV TV or P modes!) people were always asking me to photograph them and loved my work. I set a small studio up in a spare room and together with my beloved black Tibetan Terrier I set to work mastering studio flash... once I had reached a standard that I couldn't get past I set out to get some real training and see if I could really do what I absolutely loved doing. I have invested in some great training days with Damien Lovegrove and a few Annabel Williams courses.... and I am still learning...and loving it! My photographic skills: I think I am primarily a Portrait Photographer...People and Animals.... I love to capture a moment of beauty... something that will be treasured... I am a serious artist... attention to detail is really important to me.. I don't always get it right but I do learn. My personality: I am a people person... a romantic at heart not the funniest of people and quite serious at times but I am easy going and fun to be with... (I hope!) Geographic areas I cover: I am open to all areas... depending on the project Venues I frequently attend: I Love old buildings and beautiful light I found inspiration from: I am totally inspired by Damien... I would train with him once a month if I could. I also love John Dentons work at the moment... but I am inspired by a lot of photographers for different aspects. Success in photography: I have now achieved 2 Gold awards 4 Silver awards & 17 Bronze awards in the SWPP monthly competitions Photographic training: I have had 3 Days with Damien Lovegrove and I have another in July.... I have been to Lakes with Annabel Williams twice and had 2 seminars with Morag Macdonald & Bjorn Thomassen.. I am booked on the John Denton one next week. My interests outside photography: I have my three Tibetan Terriers who I adore and I have to give them credit for sitting patiently for me in the beginning...learning to photograph black dogs is a great way to start! Major events: Nearing 50 is pretty major! Why I like the SWPP: I have found that being the only photographer in my family can be pretty isolating...joining the SWPP this year has given me a real outlet to see if my work is really worth peoples time and money.... I really appreciate the feed back it provides and the seminars are great value for money. Future plans: My future plans are to constantly improve my lighting skills and camera skills to produce images that people will treasure Julie Moult Qualification Panel.
