Photography style: I offer creative photography with particular emphasis on lighting. For wedding photography and on location portrait photography I offer a storybook feel to capture every moment of your day using lighting, landscape and different camera angles to make my images different with a unique style. I enjoy taking reportage type images of your special day.

What are your greatest strengths: I listen to and respect my clients so that I fit into their special day so that they can rely on me to capture every moment. How long have I been a photographer: 20 years

How did you get started: A career change from research science allowed me to follow a long standing passion in photography. I also completed an HND in Photography and Digital Imaging at James Watt College. This allowed me to understand the business side of photography and helped kick start my business as a professional photographer.

Your key skills and abilities: am friendly and accommodating and place particular emphasis on planning for your special day before the actual event so that everything runs as smoothly as possible, yet I am still able to capture spontaneous moments. I know the technical aspects of photography so that I concentrate on creativity.

Describe your personality: Friendly, professional, trustworthy with a drive to be a successful photographer.

What geographical locations do you cover: Primarily Central Scotland however will also cover the rest of the UK and Europe.

What particular venues do you like: Venues that offer a challenge to photography. I also love landscape photography and therefore love venues with strong landscape, seaside towns, dramatic sunsets and dramatic lighting so that I can add in my own creative lighting. I love modern and old architecture and venues which offer interesting textures and settings. Primarily, however it’s my subject that make the pictures. Living in Ayrshire allows full use of the dramatic landscape we have in this region of Scotland.

Successes in photography: I won the "your view" category for Take-a-view Landscape Photographer of the year competition (2007) organized by landscape photographer Charlie Waite. I completed an HND in Photography and Digital Imaging at James Watt College and received my LSWPP in 2007. I was also the President of Ayr Photographic Society for 2007/2008. I have also been nominated for commended entries to the Scottish Salon and Scottish Photographic Federation. I have also won competitions involving other photographic societies throughout the UK.

Interests other than photography: Pretty much live and breathe photography but also love to cycling, ski-ing and travel.

Other major events in your life: getting married, being a father of twins and successfully achieving my goal to be a professional photographer after a long career as a research scientist.

Future Plans: To be a very successful wedding and portrait photographer yet still maintain a passion for photography.

Any other additional information: I cover wedding, portrait, advertising, public relations, editorial, children and family portraits in a studio environment and on location. I also cover industrial and scientific photography. However my main emphasis is wedding photography.
