My greatest strengths: My greatest strength is my professionalism and my ability to get the job done. I have been in photography: I have been a professional photographer for eleven years, other than that I have been making photographs for over twenty years. How I got started in photography: In the beginning I started with a point and shoot 35mm Hanimex Pro, and soon progressed to buying my first 35mm Canon SLR, a T60. Purchased when I was 18 and still in my cabinet today. My photographic skills: Apart from being an excellent photographer I am also very good on the computer, in the digital age we not only have to make great photographs but we have to be able to manipulate them to meet our clients exacting requirements. We have to know about everything from fstops to F keys, apertures to actions and everything in-between. My personality: If I were to describe myself, I would say I am a happy fun loving person, nothing makes the day go better than being able to have a good laugh. Geographic areas I cover: I cover the Munster region of Ireland. Venues I frequently attend: I like the wide open spaces of west cork, whether on the coast or half way up a mountain its a good place for a photographer and his subjects or clients to make great photographs. I found inspiration from: I am inspired by my surroundings, living in West Cork there are so many beautiful places to visit and photograph. Success in photography: I have numerous Gold and Diamond awards, I am also the:- SWPP overseas monochrome photographer of the year 2006 and:- SWPP International monochrome photographer of the year 2008 I hold Licentiateships with the SWPP, SINWP, IPPA and RPS and have a Diploma in Photography. Photographic training: I studied full time for two years at The Arts Institute, Bournemouth. A great place to study with plenty equipment and studios. My interests outside photography: I am a keen walker, I enjoy gardening and natural history. Whenever I can get away from my studio, I like nothing more than going for a walk, with my camera of course, or sitting in a hide waiting patiently for that bird to perch just where you want it or for a deer to come and drink from a stream. There is nothing more relaxing than watching the wildlife around us and making some great photographs of them as well. Major events: I have recently started lecturing on Digital Photography at The Wildlife Film School, here in Ireland. I have been imparting my knowledge of photography now for many years having run my own workshops but now look forward to larger workshops including trips to Canada to photograph the big whales and week long masterclasses on Digital Wildlife Photography. Only time will tell where this will lead, wherever it goes I am sure to have some fun getting there, as will the people around me.
