Real people or real places, uncut and natural. My greatest strengths: The skills I have acquired and/or improved upon with the passing of time and seemingly endless jaunts around the world were: diplomacy; leadership and man management by making the best use of other people's skills to the benefit of the group as a whole; problem solving often under adverse conditions; taking care of clients needs, desires and demands; and learning that patience and a smile goes a very long way. I have been in photography: Over 30 years How I got started in photography: Military trained (Australia). Mentored by a wedding photographer. Went travelling when I left the Army and developed a reasonable stock of some quite remote destinations in Africa, Asia and South America. My photographic skills: Technically skilled, good diplomatic skills. My experience of dealing with the logistics of remote location photography is based on travels to some of the most inhospitable places in the world. I go to great lengths to maintain contact with those people I have met through my travels. I always come back with eye-catching images. If an assignment demands special attention or a unique bit of kit, I have the technology or know someone who has. I can put together a small team for the biggest job, anywhere. My business travel people can get me and my team to any location the client needs with speed, the minimum of fuss and acceptable expenses. My personality: Unflappable, dedicated, honest to the point of being blunt, fearless but not reckless, patient and hard working. Warber, Herb Ritts, Richard Avedon, Annie Liebovitz, David Alan Harvey, Edward S. Curtis, Eamon McCabe. Annie Liebovitz (didn't t like her pictures of the Queen but...), Stuart Weston, Jason Bell (liked his work for the Royal Opera House), David Stoecklien (his work on cowboys is amazing), Araki (his work may often appear to be pornographic but women queue to be his subjects with mothers even putting forward their daughters for the privilege nice work and a Japanese Icon), Jodi Cobb (most particularly her work with Geishas and Arab/Bedu women Success in photography: Won awards for travel writing. Finalist in the 2008 Hasselblad Masters competition Photographic training: Self taught mainly. My interests outside photography: Outdoors, Travel, Mountain climbing, history Major events: 9 years in the Australian Army (7 in Special Forces) Why I like the SWPP: Mentoring and a great source of potential advice on all things photographic Tagline: Miracles take five minutes; the impossible takes a little longer!
