DIRTY DANCING WEDDING VIDEO SOARS TO TOP OF YOU TUBE FOR VALENTINE’S DAY
LONDON – At their wedding, film producer James Derbyshire and photographer Julia Boggio recreated the dance from Dirty Dancing as their first dance.
Last week they uploaded it onto You Tube to show friends and family. Now, the video footage has soared to the top of You Tube and has gained the honour of being in the global top 50 most viewed and global top 100 most discussed submissions.
The footage came to the attention of the public in an article in the Metro last Friday. By nine o’clock Friday morning, Julia and James were contacted by ITV, Richard and Judy, and The Sun on-line.
The couple, fast approaching their second wedding anniversary, are finding the whole experience a little surreal. “I was sitting on the tube on Friday morning reading The Times,” says James, “when I looked over and saw the headline ‘The Wedding Prancer’ in the Metro. The girl was reluctant to trade papers with me at first, but when I pointed out the prancer was me, she was more than happy.”
On-line, the footage is currently ranked 81 in the most discussed section. Most of the comments have been positive, wishing the couple luck with married life and saying that their dance is better than “shuffling around…to Careless frickin Whisper.” Others have called it “utter self-indulgent crap.” James’ favourite comment calls him gay and warns his loved ones of the devastation he will cause when he finally admits it.
Friends of James and Julia are unsurprised by the media frenzy, as they are well known for their romantic gestures. “We’re talking about a couple that got engaged at Tiffanys in New York,” says their choreographer Stuart Burrows. “That story made the Wimbledon papers, I remember.”
That being said, this Valentine’s Day marks the first in two years that Julia and James are both in the same country. Two years ago, James was in Las Vegas for his stag do and, last year, Julia was travelling in Rwanda, shooting a photographic essay.
So what are they doing this year? “Hopefully seeing Dirty Dancing, the musical!” says Julia. Coincidentally, 2007 marks the 20th Anniversary of the film Dirty Dancing.

The programme will cover the many Portrait style options in the UK marketplace. Later we will familiarise ourselves with basic lighting skills, learn how to pose individuals, couples and groups for optimum efficiency, take posing a little further and enter the world of animation and dynamics. Later in the day we will look at the area of 'Post Image Capture'. OK, so you have lots of delightful Portrait images, but do you really know how to present and sell them as well as you should? The final part of these courses are specifically designed to examine our presentation and sales techniques with critical attention drawn to final composition, output options, composite image design, appropriate media selection relative to subject matter and new product development. IMPORTANT: Now, we are also able to put an image on the venue page. This may be a picture of the venue or a bride and groom, we will incorporate the appropriate 'alt text' thus making the page more appealing for both the consumer and the search engines.
