I attended the Back to Basics Wedding Photography with Martin last Sunday (14th May), which Id like to say before going any further, was the best £50.00 I have spent. It was a cracking day and Martins experience and tuition has really got me inspired to take some new and exciting photos and Ill definitely be getting along to other training days now.

Dear Phil
I wanted to say "thank-you" to SWPP for having the foresight to establish the
"Mentor-Me" Programme. There is no way I would have got around to submitting my
images without that stimulus.
I also want to recognise the efforts of Martin Grahame Dunn who gave me great advice on
the Coventry Mentor Me day which allowed me to submit a much stronger panel of images
based on new knowledge. I also learned a lot from him on the commercial side and look
forward to developing more in that area. Thanks to Martin for giving up his time in
support of this initiative.
So well done SWPP, and I look forward to seeing you next weekend.

Dear Martin,
Thank you for your email with the details of my assessment. I was a little disappointed that I am still making so many mistakes, however , I am keen to fill in my knowledge gaps and progress to the next level as soon as possible.
I would be interested to know your suggestions regarding training, including the one day workshops you mentioned.
Thank you for your help so far,
Kind regards,
R C
Dear Martin,
Thank-you very much for your message today, and thank-you very much for your critique. It
is most appreciated that you took the time to consider my pictures from a professional
point of view.
I will be taking on board all your comments. They will spur me on to think harder about
what I am doing and trying to achieve.
I would be thrilled to attend some Mentoring/Training Days! As you can probably tell from
my pictures I have been teaching myself all aspects of photography this year so it would
be a relief to get some professional training, help and advice.
It would be great if you and SWPP could put me on the right path to gaining my
Licentiateship. A development program sounds perfect. I do think I need some structure and
direction. I really would like to advance my technical knowledge in this field. I do have
more projects lined up, so I will be ensuring I get a better, more professional selection
to send to you over the coming months.
Again I really appreciate the help from yourself and SWPP, hopefully one day I can make
steps to start a career in photography!
I look forward to receiving news of the Mentoring Days.
Best regards,
Rebecca
Dear Martin,
Firstly, I would very much like to take part in an intensive mentoring day. Hopefully, it might be possible to have one arranged in the North East area.
Thank you very much for taking the time and trouble to critique the images I sent on the "Mentor Me" programme. I sent them in with some trepidation as I was aware that I needed some work to improve. I sent in a bit of a cross section of the subjects I have been taking over the past 8 months or so.
I was delighted that some one of your standing and experience found any of my images worthy of merit. It has given me quite a boost. I very much want to improve my ability and hopefully thereby make my work more saleable.
Nothing gives me greater enjoyment than being behind a camera. The greatest satisfaction is seeing an image which I (and particularly others) feel I have done justice to.
I definitely need help is presentation for clients. Recently I have provided a client with a DVD slideshow with fades and a gentle soundtrack along with a "contact" sheet. I would welcome any help in this area or any books you might be able to recommend that could be useful.
Once again many thanks for your comments and help.
Regards, Stephen G.
Martin,
Many thanks for your comments and suggestions. It is really useful to have some
constructive criticism. All my clients have been extremely happy with my work, but
obviously do not look at the technical aspects of the photography, which I know needs
improving. I'm aware that I need more formal training and would be very interested in the
mentoring days you mentioned.
Thanks,
Ian
Martin,
I am at the beginning of my road to being a wedding photographer, so thank-you for your assessment.
I will bear all your suggestions in mind.
I would be interested in a mentoring day, though my preference would be for a weekend as I currently have a "day job". I realise, however, that more established photographers will prefer a day during the week as hopefully they will be out working on Saturday.
Thanks again for your guidance and encouragement.
Graham
Dear Martin
Thank you for your constructive report on my submitted images. I appreciate your comments
and will aspire to do as recommended.
On receiving the report I felt at first, as one would, a little taken aback and
disappointed in myself, although not very surprised. I always knew I needed further
training and skill enhancement, hence my submission.
Once again thank you for your report. I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind Regards
Malcolm
Dear Martin,
Thank you very much indeed for your valuable constructive criticism of my 20 images and your general comments. I will take them on board when providing my next 20 images.
I will submit another cd in the next few weeks and thank you once again for the time and effort you have clearly put in to assist me. I look forward to hearing from you in due course.
Kind regards, John
Hello Martin,
Thank you for your comments and feedback, I really appreciate you giving your time to help
improve my work.
I have a few more wedding to photograph this year and I intend to try to work on the areas
you have identified.
Hopefully I will come back to you at the start of the year with an improved set of
photographs.
I try to attend 2-3 SWPP seminars a year and will continue to do so. I have found these
very inspiring and full of ideas, I guess I need to look more
critically at some of the photographers work and see how I can use it to improve on my
own, taking into account the feedback you have provided.
Many thanks for your help
kind regards George

Photo Quote: I have often thought that if photography were difficult in the true sense of the term -- meaning that the creation of a simple photograph would entail as much time and effort as the production of a good watercolor or etching -- there would be a vast improvement in total output. The sheer ease with which we can produce a superficial image often leads to creative disaster. - Ansel Adams
