Colour Correction - Curves and Adjustment Layers

LEFT:

1. The unmodified curve with no control points. Input values all equal output values.

2. The black values (left) are elevated and the highlights are depressed, this effectively reduces the contrast.

3. The curve is steepened, increasing the contrast.

4. The curve is completely reversed, creating a negative of the original.

5. The mid tones are lifted out to the upper left which lightens them.

6. The mid tones are dragged down and right which darkens them.

NOTE:

The curves are shown with RGB (0-255) and shadows on the left at the bottom. If you click on the double-facing arrows at the middle base of the curve frame, the values are shown as % and the tones are reversed.
