Bowens cuts its new remote control unit down to size

19/11/09

Bowens has launched a pioneering super-lightweight ‘mini’ remote control unit for its latest Gemini ‘R’ and Gemini ‘PRO’ series monolights.

The new, highly cost-efficient Gemini Remote Control (GM) handset weighs in at just 34g – almost a fifth of the bulk of its RC3 predecessor. And its dimensions of just 45mm x 95mm x 10mm make it one of the world’s most compact remote control units.

Robert Cook, Bowens marketing director said: “This is the smallest-ever Bowens RC unit.
Its design is so slim-line that when we designed it we had to factor in the possibility that the GM might get temporarily mislaid by photographers. Our solution was to make it key ring compatible.”

He added: “This new remote control makes working with Gemini monolights a breeze - allowing the user to control features such as power, test flash, modelling, sounder, photo cell and channel settings without ever leaving the camera position – up to seven metres.
Bowens products are used in over sixty countries across the globe so we have also built-in new, intuitive and internationally recognised control symbols.
In worldwide tests photographers were able to pick up the new GM and use it immediately, with no reference to instructions.”

The new GM Remote Control Handset (part number BW3960) is available now from Bowens distributors with a guide price of £49.99 (incl VAT).
