Calumet set to host new workshop programme in 2012

14/12/11

Calumet has teamed with Epson Print Academy and photography workshop and training specialist, aspect2i, to host a brand new series of exclusive photo-workshops at key branches through 2012.

The day-long courses, which will include capture, post processing and print techniques, start at Calumet’s flagship Drummond Street, Euston branch on March 2.

Michael Pilkington, a founding partner at aspect2i explained: “This is a key joint initiative to help photographers, both amateur and professional, evolve their skills to the next level. Aspect2i plans to offer the widest range of class-based workshops in the country - and this compelling new programme, which starts with over twenty events through 2012, brings the Epson Print Academy proposition to key Calumet stores.”

He added: “These dynamic workshops, hosted by well-known professionals, including Sue Bishop, Mike McNamee, John Humphrey, Andrew Williams, Trevor Waldron and Paul Gallagher, are specifically tailored to enable photographers to master a specific topic. And when it comes to output we believe that too many images stay on a screen or a hard drive. Our view remains that photography is really about the excitement of creating an outstanding and very high quality print.”

Nick White at Epson UK said: “We are delighted to be working with both Calumet and aspect2i on a project that allows us to help develop photography skills throughout the UK. The goal of the Epson Print Academy is to provide both an educational and inspirational forum for photo enthusiasts and working pros alike, to interact with some of the most knowledgeable professionals in the field.”

“Print Academy attendees receive instruction and insight into how they can get the most out of the latest digital imaging workflow tools to dramatically advance their printmaking skills. This collaboration will allow us to extend the opportunity for photographers at all levels around the UK to enhance their skills.”

Sian Hamer, Calumet marketing executive added: “The first workshop in March is headed ‘The perfect black and white print; with Paul Gallagher` and follow-up seminars, initially in London and Manchester, will include the following topics: ‘Creating photos with impact’; ‘Essentials of travel photography’; ‘Understanding Lightroom’; ‘Off cameras flash in the field’; ‘Getting the most from your DSLR’;‘Making exhibition quality prints’; ‘Photoshop essentials’; ‘Understand Photoshop Elements’ and ‘Close- up and macro photography’.
The courses will cost just £85 for the day, including VAT, lunch and refreshments.”

Photo Quote: To take photographs means to recognize - simultaneously and within a fraction of a second - both the fact itself and the rigorous organization of visually perceived forms that give it meaning. It is putting one's head, one's eye and one's heart on the same axis. - Henri Cartier-Bresson
