Creative Online launch the Printree Gallery

06/03/08

CreateOnline Ltd, the Bletchley Park-based online printing service that since 2004 has represented many of the UK's most prominent image libraries, has launched an exciting new service for artists and photographers under the title of the Printree Gallery.

Printree Gallery offers artists and photographers, established and up-and-coming alike, the opportunity to showcase their portfolios to a massive online global market and receive income from the sale of superb quality giclée prints or limited editions. Profits from print sales are shared equally with artists, equivalent to a minimum of 35 per cent of each print sale. And artists can sell their original works through the site too at no cost.

The Gallery is the latest edition to the Printree portal - one of the finest online art and photographic collections from galleries and archives around the globe including Punch, Illustrated London News, National Geographic, History of Advertising Trust, The GF Watts Gallery, Arkive, Post Office Heritage Library, and various regional art galleries. Combined with these powerful web site links, Printree’s sophisticated search engine techniques ensures high web visibility and visitor traffic.

Unlike a traditional stock library, Printree Gallery provides an integrated print-on-demand service that delivers to customers superb giclée prints, mounted, framed and ready-to-hang. Artists can submit their images whenever they want and that’s all they really need to do; Printree is responsible for the whole operation – loading up images, web page, e-commerce, payment collection, fulfilment, delivery, customer service and marketing.

Each artist gets a web page of their artwork, biography and gallery information. This is linked to e-commerce gateways and to Printree’s own professional giclée printing, framing, packaging and despatch operation.

For visitors to the Gallery, Printree offers a visually exciting easy-to-use shopping experience. Shoppers can browse or search through thousands of images by genre, subject, or artist’s name and have any one printed and delivered to them as a fabulous fine art print with a finish and frame of their choice. They can choose from satin, gloss, fine art and canvas; or select their canvas prints as a box-frame; or choose from 80 mouldings and mounts to have their print framed and ready-to-hang. Standard print sizes follow the European A convention - A5, A4, A3, A2, A1, A0. Payments are made securely on line by Worldpay and Paypal or by sending cheque or cash.

Orders are printed literally on-demand using high fidelity inkjet technology and lightfast, pigmented inks. Lead times to delivery are typically five days for prints and ten days with framed pictures. Quality controls, backed up by a 14-days no quibble returns policy, ensure customer satisfaction. The service is secure and all transaction data is backed up on fail-over servers to ensure 24/7 service.

To join the Gallery artists pay a single one-time joining fee of £29.90 and for this they can load up and display 20 images. Additional image credits can be bought online to upload any number of images at any time. Images remain on the site for 12 months and thereafter can be renewed or allowed to expire. Artists must warrant that they own the copyright and have the necessary permissions for submitted images. A strong legal framework governs the use of the artists’ images and they retain full ownership and copyright throughout. The process is secure - original files are stored off-line and only low resolution, watermarked images are put on-line.
