Epson’s new range of Fine Art papers have been designed specifically for fine art reproduction, and sets a new standard for the market

02/11/09

Recognising that artists and professional photographers require a variety of media to produce or archive their work, Epson today announces four new fine art papers. The new papers, Hot Press Bright, Hot Press Natural, Cold Press Bright and Cold Press Natural, are optimised for use with Epson UltraChrome ink technology. The papers will become available in a wide range of sizes through Epson resellers in November. Cut sheets (A3+ and A2) will be available at launch, with rolls available early 2010.

Martin Johns, Senior Product Manager, Epson UK, said: “We’ve had some of the world’s most demanding photographers testing this outstanding new range in combination with Epson professional printers, and they are telling us that the results achieved are the closest thing yet to original pieces of art.”

The new fine art media range from Epson includes a 330gsm Hot Press Natural paper that provides a smooth surface, and a 340gsm Cold Press Natural paper that offers a textured surface, with both featuring a warm white point that will produce a museum grade finish. Hot Press Bright and Cold Press Bright papers offer a bright white point that will remain classic for years to come.

The four new 100% cotton papers are PH buffered and free from linen and acid, with a specially developed coating to give an exceptionally wide colour gamut and high D-Max.

Martin Johns continued: “These photo and museum grade papers are inspired by the craftsmanship of artisans who developed the world’s first watercolour papers, and they are pressed using traditional ‘mould-made’ methods. This enables artists to achieve a highly original look and feel with richer blacks, smoother tonal transitions and an expanded colour gamut.

“Put simply, when used with Epson inks and printers, this new paper range can produce the expert, authentic-quality expected in the fine art market.”
