SnapVillage, the innovative microstock website empowered by Corbis, today announced that it is now open for business worldwide. Customers in most countries around the world, subject to local laws and regulations, can now license images from SnapVillage’s simple and intuitive English-language website, which has a rapidly growing collection of more than 160,000 lifestyle, business, travel and other images.

“We’re excited to bring SnapVillage’s fresh, simple, affordable approach to stock photography to image users in countries around the world,” said Adam Brotman, senior vice president of Corbis.com and SnapVillage.com. “This dramatically broadens the number of customers we can reach and will help drive continued rapid growth of SnapVillage.”

SnapVillage’s simple, clean website was designed to be easier to use for all types of creative people including small businesses, web and graphic design firms and consumers looking to create fun visual projects of their own. People around the world will now have access to SnapVillage’s straightforward and user-friendly image licensing process, including licensing images via a monthly subscription, and innovative interactivity features such as community image tagging, saving pictures as favourites, commenting on images, sharing images with others and Snappyness image ratings.

Snappyness is a proprietary, dynamic rating that is driven by multiple measures of a picture’s popularity, including the number of times it has been viewed, downloaded, favourited, commented upon, shared and purchased. The “Snappyness” rating ensures that customers can quickly and easily find the freshest and best images.

SnapVillage receives more than 10,000 images each week in categories ranging from animals and architecture to landscapes, food and recreation. During its beta period, SnapVillage continues its commitment to actively listen and incorporate customer feedback while accelerating enhancements to the website.
