Samsung Camera Extends L-Series with the Launch of the L830

• Slim design, higher-resolution and creative controls highlight the new 8MP DSC

Secaucus, NJ (July 11, 2007) – Samsung today announced the launch of the L830 – one of two new additions to its popular L-Series of compact digital cameras. Boasting a high-resolution 8.1 mega pixel imaging sensor, the L830 is packed with advanced functions and controls that are sure to enhance the imaging experience of today’s digital snap-shooter.

In a slim, aluminum body measuring 3.74” x 2.32” x .83”, the L830 packs a 3x optical zoom SHD lens, with a maximum shutter speed of 1/1,500 sec. to help capture fast moving objects. With 9 scene modes, including Children, Landscape, Close-Up, Text, Sunset, Dawn, Backlight, Fireworks, Beach & Snow, the L830 gives shooters the ability to capture the best image possible in a variety of settings. Users can also review, edit and customize their images right on the camera, using the bright 2.5” LCD screen.

By using the camera’s special effects "E" button, users can easily access various creative controls, including options for resizing and rotating images, adjusting brightness, contrast and saturation levels, fixing red eye, and manipulating color such as saving captured images as B&W, Sepia, Red, Blue, Green, and Negative. Additionally, with the color filter option, shooters can choose to keep a section of their saved image in color and leave the rest in black and white.

With an ISO equivalent of 1600 and Samsung’s ASR (Advanced Shake Reduction) image stabilization system, the L830 gives shooters the ability to capture sharp and clear images when in low-light situations. ASR is a proprietary technology that helps to minimize the effects of hand shake and ensure that the best shots are captured in dimly lit conditions or where the use of a flash is not desirable.

(more) By using the L830’s Face Detection feature, which detects up to nine faces and automatically adjusts focus and exposure to ensure better composition and image quality, shooters can easily improve the photos that they take of their family and friends. The L830 is also equipped with Samsung’s i-movie mode, which offers users SVGA resolution (800x592), MPEG-4 video and advanced editing controls. By using the camera’s Successive Recording mode, users can pause, and then resume filming of video clips without having to save the clips as individual files. Additionally, users can operate the camera’s optical zooms while filming.

Enabling users to further express their creativity is the "Fun" feature. This unique feature allows shooters to create a composite photo by saving up to four individual images as one, highlight an image by sharpening the foreground and softening the focus of the background, as well as customize their saved images with photo frames, stickers of various shapes, and cartoon text bubbles. All images can be saved to the16MB of internal memory on the L830 or to an external SDHC/SD card with a guaranteed maximum of 4GB.

L830: $179 MSRP – available Fall 2007
