Due to unexpected circumstances Syl Arena
will unfortunately no longer be hosting these workshops. Regrettably,
Syl has been advised not to travel on an extended basis for the next 4-6
weeks.
We are fortunate to have been able to secure the services of Rick
Friedman, who is a multiple award winning Photographer with a vast
knowledge and experience of the Canon Speedlite system. Therefore, the
format and content of the seminars will remain unchanged.
Rick Friedman has been a photojournalist for over three decades. Based
in Boston, he travels the world for numerous publications, corporations,
advertising assignments and film and television productions. His
published work appears in Time, Newsweek, U.S. News, The New York Times,
USA Today, The Guardian, Der Spiegel, Stern, Discover and many other
publications. He has produced over 75 book and magazine covers. The
books Hillary Clinton, Infra Structures, and The Gourmet Prescription
are a few of his projects. Rick Friedman is currently the President of
the Boston Press Photographers Association. Rick has won awards from the
American Society of Media Photographers, the National Press
Photographers Association, and the Boston Press Photographers
Association.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish Syl a speedy recovery and
we hope to see him here in the UK soon.
We look forward to seeing you on the tour.

What our members say
Why I like the Societies: As I’m pretty new to it I think the main reason to join was to feel part of a community of like-minded people. Also the ability to use the mentor me programme and enter some competitions. I’m looking forward to the forum and hoping it can answer some of the problems I come up against - Rossie B

Award-winning portrait photography - is it all in the genes?
120 Lichfield Road, Rushall, Walsall. Does the address ring any bells? Well, if not with you, it certainly does with many thousands of West Midlands families and hundreds of UK photographers who have been in some way touched or influenced by the photodynasty that is resident there.
Photo Quote: There is no art which affords less opportunity to execute expression than photography. Everything is concentrated in a few seconds, when after perhaps an hours seeking, waiting, and hesitation, the photographer sees the realization of his inward vision, and in that moment he has one advantage over most arts - his medium is swift enough to record his momentary inspiration. - Sadakichi Hartmann
