Venue History: St wilfrid built his amazing Crypt in 672, which makes it the oldest existing Saxon Crypt in England. Visitors have followed the Pilgrim trail here for over 1350 years enjoying the peace and prayerful tranquillity of the Cathedral, which has been at the heart of the Christian Mission to Europe for centuries.
Other information: Dominating the Ripon skyline, the Cathedral has inspired the likes of Lewis Carroll and Wilfrid Owen and continues to inspire visitors and worshippers alike. Special trails for children and youngsters are available, come and meet Griff the Gargroyle or search for angels and dragons.
A wide variety of musical events are held in the Cathedral including recitals on Thursday Lunchtimes and Summer Evening Concerts each year.
A major project to rewire and relight the Cathedral, both inside and out, has just been completed which reveals its historical gems and enhances the visitor experience.
