Type business: Semi Professional Photographer

My photographic style: I try to capture the "story" of the day. This includes formal family groupings & those special candid photographs which you could never set-up. This mix will produce a stunning set of images. You will be able to view this on-line & have a set of proofs to look through so you can make that final Wedding Album choice. This is a tricky job, as most of clients comment "We found making the final Album order very difficult, so many fantastic Photographs to pick from!".

My greatest strengths: I offer a service which will start with a free complimentary Pre-Wedding Photo Shoot. This allows you to see how I work, Quick & efficiently through a set of poses & locations to get the very best images possible. You would then pick a Photograph, which would be placed into an oversized mount. This is then available for your guests to sign & leave a message on, at Your Wedding Reception.

On the Wedding Day I will be available to capture the preparations of the Day. The Bride getting ready. The final stages of hair & make-up, the Champagne, Your Bridesmaids & Close Family, all these are vital photographs to have & enjoy. I then move to meet the Gents. The Groom, The Best man & Ushers. Just as before, every moment counts.

The Groom sees his Bride for the first time! What can one say? It's here, in the Photographs you will receive from Lifestylefoto. Images which carry a thousand emotions.

I have been in photography: I have worked in the Photographic Industry for over twenty years.

How I got started in photography: Lifestylefoto started in 2002. From Day One, Bookings have grown year on year by simple word of mouth.

My photographic skills: I believe my "easy going" style allows me to blend in to any situation. You need a photographer who can arrange things in a certain manner which means you get the very best results. My Photographs prove this. From Formal to Informal, Candids to Set Groupings, All aspects are catered for.

My personality: I can call my past clients, my friends. So many come back to me for Family Photographs. This is where most of my Photography bookings come from. As the family increase in numbers with new arrivals, I am called to record these special times. It's a great job!!

Geographic areas I cover: I work throughout the UK & Ireland.

Venues I frequently attend: I've been lucky to work in some very interesting places & locations. Where venues are, can be a challenge sometimes. But this is what makes this job so interesting.

I found inspiration from: I have many Peers who I look up to for Photographic Inspiration. Damien Lovegrove, Annabel Williams, Gerry Ghionis, David Oliver, Yervant just to name a few. These are international Speakers at Conventions & Photographic Trade Fairs. The best in our profession. I strive to have a style which emulates them.

Success in photography: Late last year I made a decision to improve my Photographic Qualifications via the Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers. I had to submit a number of images so my standard could be judged. I was delighted to gain Licentiate Level within this organisation. I continue & wish to achieve higher standard as an ongoing personal goal!

Photographic training: I started as an assistant photographer in a commercial studio. Attention to detail was my daily mantra. We covered assignments for Grattan, Littlewoods & Next catalogues. I spent 3 years within this company before moving on. I have attended many seminars given by Key Leaders in our profession. My latest, was to go on the "Photo Training Overseas" event held in Turkey, January 2010. An outstanding Experience & loaded with so many ideas!

My interests outside photography: I am a keen swimmer. Being a member of the "Long Distance Swimming Association" means I get to swim in some our outstanding Lakes & Lochs throughout the UK. I have taken part in the Lake Windermere Blue Ribbon Event. This is a 10 mile swim which occurs early September each year. It is a 6 hour swim, none stop. It's tough going too!

Major events: By word of mouth alone I have managed to achieve a Wedding Booking in Milan, Italy. This is something I look forward to with great delight! It occurs in June, 2010. I will keep you posted!

Georgina & Steve: "Thank you so much for our wonderful wedding photographs. We are so thrilled with our wedding album. We have had so many comments on how fabulous the photos are... with the "slide show" at the wedding, and the proofs and the album, reducing many to tears. We had such a fantastic day & will treasure our memories forever. Thanks for being there to share it with us and for making us feel relaxed. You captured the day so perfectly! Thanks again!"

Chris & Julie: "We can't thank you enough for making our wedding day truly special. We have a stunning set of photographs."

Laura & John (from Laura's Mum!): "May I say, a huge thank you. I was more than impressed by the discreet way you caught everyone on camera both here at home, at the hairdressers and at church. Myself and family are delighted with the photos we received the following day."

Jeanette & Mathew: "Just wanted to say a big thank you for our wedding photographs.

They are perfect. You were absolutely fabulous on our wedding day. Best wishes."

Why I like the SWPP: The (SWPP) Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers is a forward thinking alliance. It has a strong membership. One which is growing all the time from national to international basis. The SWPP are always looking at ways of improvement by arranging Qualification submission of it's members. Seminars are also an important area.

Tagline: "Attention to detail" is a key feature of my service!

Future plans: I would envisage Lifestylefoto to continue to grow year on year. To expand into other areas too such as Schools Photography. I hope to achieve higher standards in qualifications & wish to attain an Associateship at the Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers. Every Wedding I Photograph is different in some aspect & it is this which broadens my experience. I hope I can be of Service to You?

And finally: (Article below Published in "Ribble Valley Live Magazine", 2009)............

When planning your wedding it's imperative to find a creative, dependable and talented photographer amongst the plethora of local studios. Cathy Riley meets John Grayston of Lifestylefoto whose astute flair is quickly becoming the talk of the Ribble Valley.

Perhaps you picture your wedding celebrated on a balmy summer's evening, a gazebo

garlanded in flowers in the grounds of a stately home, Bach's Arioso floating on the breeze. Maybe you prefer the local hostelry with the registrar dressed as Elvis, complete

with blue suede shoes, oversized sun-glasses and crooning Love Me Tender'. Whatever your dream, you want to capture every moment of your special day perfectly to cherish in the years to come.

John Grayston has been in the photography business for over 20 years. Lifestylefoto really

started to take off in 2002 aided by client recommendations and John s reputation for excellence.

His work reflects his exceptional professionalism combined with a passion for his craft. He strives to combine a consummate customer service with his outstanding photography skills. John can thoughtfully tailor a package for each bride and groom. He not only travels extensively throughout the UK but can operate across Europe to capture the ambience and emotion of your wedding day.

I suggested to John that, from my own experience, the service provided by a wedding photographer is a very personal one that requires a high degree of trust and responsibility.

John explained: Images tell a story, one rich with atmosphere and excitement as the romance

of the day unfolds. The bride and groom want their special day captured in beautiful and unique photographs in a contemporary, informal, yet natural style. I will accompany the couple throughout the day yet strive to remain invisible and unobtrusive.

This can start with the preparations of both bride and groom before the ceremony, through to the married kiss, the couple s first dance and departure for their honeymoon. I can even

produce a photo show to be played at the evening reception, with images captured throughout the day. I will discreetly capture those all-important private moments that make the day truly memorable in a combination of reportage style black and white and colour photographs.

John s expertise is reflected in his work which recognises that every wedding is individual and unique there are no blueprints for wedding photographs. Before the day of your wedding his services will be fully discussed to incorporate

your own ideas and requirements whether for a grand, formal affair or a more intimate event.

John has a charming style and approach comparable to a fine-art documentary, creative and very exclusive, coupled with flattering portraiture, whilst being minimally intrusive. His attention to detail and levels of client satisfaction are second to none. The images are ready for review within a few days and can even be viewed on a password protected gallery on his website before selecting the best images and showcasing them in a beautiful, leather-bound book.

So when planning your wedding, leave the photography in the hands of a professional as you only get one chance to get it right!
